Books allow readers to travel while sitting on a couch, they give wings to our insight, they are a treasure of knowledge, joy, happiness, wisdom and so much more, books are more than enjoyment and are even capable of transforming your life, Books are the best companion even in your hardest time, books make you realize that you are not the only one struggling in this world, they give you a new perspective to view things and situations from different angles.
Books inspire us or make us see the right path, it makes us understand that we can do anything if we set our mind on it, it enlightens our passion It allows us to take action and help us to know that we shouldn’t underestimate ourselves we need to raise our worth, and show it to the world. Books have the potential to upgrade our beliefs to match our destiny. In this sense we can say that books are considered to be the best friends of students. They take them into a unique world where imaginations are sparked and improve their standard of living.
They enhance their experience and refine their intellect. For this Libraries play an essential role in providing safe, accessible, and 100% free educational resource centers for every member in communities across the country.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has very few public libraries due to which underserved communities cannot even access academic books. Consequently, underprivileged students cannot secure admissions into institutions of higher learning of their choice due to poor academic performance in the placement examination. This poor performance which negatively affects the educational development of the students may be attributed to a poor learning environment especially absence or inadequate library services in the schools and colleges. This problem is not only caused by budget deficits found in the sectors but also the negative perception of students and school management towards the establishment and use of libraries. We can say that lack of public and school libraries is the major cause of educational setback in Pakistan.
For our mega project of Amal fellowship my team i.e. Team Hulk has decided to work to provide a service to underprivileged students and small schools where students can easily access academic as well as creative, technical and non-academic books either used or unused easily and conduct informative library tours and orientations acquaint them with most of the library’s services and resources which they are not aware of their existence by all this we are hoping that the state of education can be increased and will have positive effects for the well-being of the students’ academic performance and educational development. We are calling it “Project Books Bliss.”
We have already started a social media campaign to get as many book donations as we can but unfortunately we haven’t got any progress yet. Currently we are looking for potential partners which are already working for this cause and who can help us to achieve our objective. Ideally we want to work with Alif Laila Book Bus Society who’s basic objective is to evolve solutions to Pakistan’s educational problems within the given socio-economic constraints. And has been working successfully for the past 36 years for this cause.
Hope we can achieve our objective within the given limited time. Although our work will be like a drop in an ocean but if our little efforts had an effect on even a single student, it will be a success for us.
